Cask-aged palinka — the Barrique series

The Zekulhyda Barrique series takes fruit palinka a step further: apple, plum, quince, grape and pomace spirits mature for months in chestnut and oak casks, gaining their golden colour, roundness and notes of vanilla, caramel and dried fruit, then finish in cherry wood for extra elegance. The Apple Barrique was category champion at Quintessence 2025.

Bottled at 500 ml, the Barrique spirits are served at room temperature, as a digestif or with dark chocolate, walnuts and aged cheese. A premium gift from Bihor, delivered by courier anywhere in Romania.

Frequently asked questions

What do Barrique and sherry cask finish mean?
A barrique is a wooden cask of roughly 225 litres. The Barrique series spirits first mature in chestnut or oak casks, where they gain colour, roundness and notes of vanilla and dried fruit, then finish for a few months in a cask that held sherry, or in cherry wood, for extra sweetness and complexity.
How should palinka be served?
At 18–20 °C, in a tulip-shaped glass that concentrates the aromas. Do not keep it in the freezer: the cold hides the fruit. Let it rest in the glass for a minute before the first sip, then enjoy it in small sips.
How do I store the bottle, and how long does it keep?
Upright, in a cool place, away from direct light. Palinka does not spoil: a sealed bottle keeps for years, and once opened it holds its aromas for months if the stopper is tight.
Do the spirits contain sugar, flavouring or colouring?
No. Every Zekulhyda palinka is 100% distilled fruit, with no added sugar, flavouring, colouring or alcohol. The colour of the Barrique spirits comes solely from ageing in wooden casks.
